Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Case Analysis

I help you analyze your child’s educational needs, find professionals in the disciplines in which your child has an  actual or suspected disability and determine what components would create an appropriate program for your child. I review all of your child’s evaluations, report cards, progress notes, assessments, developmental history, current/past IEPs and meeting notes.  I closely monitor your childs progress. I consult with you on your 5 year vision for your child and your current concerns for your child and compose a formal statement for the IEP.  Most importantly, I am your voice at all meetings with your goals at the forefront of my mission.

School Correspondence:  I compose all emails, letters, responses for parents according to our strategy.

Evaluation and comparison of school programs allows me to make recommendations about school and program placement issues. I am available to visit schools, review curriculums, and determine if there is a good fit between the student and school.

School observations enables me to gather information about the child’s functioning in the classroom. An observation provides information about the functional skills in a group setting. The child’s ability to attend, follow directions, complete work, and interact with others are best observed in the classroom.

Referrals to other professionals are available when additional information is needed. Referrals to tutors and specialists are available.

Section 504 Plans: Section 504 plans (part of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973) offer eligible students in public or federally funded schools educational accommodations to ensure they receive a free and appropriate public education (FAPE). To qualify for a Section 504 plan, a student must have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.  I will help navigate this process.

Mediation: I am dedicated to working cooperatively with your child’s school district to create appropriate programs for students. In mediation, I represent you throughout the process.
